Instagram Rolls Out Full Screen Home Feed
INTRODUCING A NEW HOME FEED...
Straight from the source, the Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, says they are testing content to be more immersive by taking up more of the screen (very reminiscent of TikTok, no?).
What does this mean?
Instagram is testing the full-screen format on both photos and videos, mobile-first and 16:9 ratio. The same way we consume Reels and Stories.
So, what now?
While this new home feed is still in its testing phase, be sure to create future content in the 9:16, allowing room to crop as needed.
In the meanwhile, we recommend always posting the aspect ratios of 4:3 (portrait) or 1:1 (square) to occupy as much real estate on the screen as possible.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
This new format of posting could be a great way to have more engagement per post from your current community as the full-length portrait would be harder to scroll past.
As business owners and influencers, it's important to create thumb-stopping content that is worthy of a full-screen post.
Investing time and resources in high-quality content production is more important than ever.
